Employee Benefits & Business Insurance

Employee Benefits
Property & Casualty Insurance
In today's ever changing business environment it is more important than ever to be a knowledgeable consumer of employee benefit products.  Today's market demands so much more than doing what you feel is right for your employees.  Federal and state legislation, employee expectations, pressure from competitors, and certainly fiduciary responsibilities demand an ever greater amount of attention to ensure that you are providing a package that is both valued and compliant.
  • Are your dollars being spent wisely on discretionary products?  Do you survey your employees to determine what their needs are?  Do the products you offer attract the type of employee you would like to recruit?
  • Have you examined your cost-sharing and employer premium allocation strategy to provide the greatest benefit where your employees have the greatest need?  Do you effectively market your benefit package to current and potential employees?  How does your package compare to your competition?  Does your broker understand the direction you would like to take your organization with respect to employee benefits and recruitment?
  • Are you providing state mandated benefits (unemployment, worker's compensation, etc...) and do they comply with required coverage levels?  Do you have a return-to-work program, Drug Free Workplace Program, and related procedure and policy in place to contain the cost of these programs?
These questions, and many more, must be considered when planning your employee benefits strategy.  A thorough discussion and action plan to address this strategy is critical.  We are fully prepared to formulate, direct, and execute the plan.
With business, comes risk.  Every conversation, every contract, and every transaction comes with expectations and the potential for confusion, conflict, injury, illness, or damage.  Regardless of fault, you may be liable.  Regardless of intentions, you may be liable.  Regardless of another person's negligence, you may be liable.  In the event that the unforeseen happens, have you shifted this risk appropriately.  Are you covered fully, regardless of the type of loss that may occur?

Have you asked yourself:
  • If there is a major worker's compensation injury, am I adequately covered?  Does my worker's compensation policy cover the type of work that we do?  Are coverage levels adequate and within legal requirements?  Are any exclusions in place that leave us unprotected in a critical area?
  • Is your product covered while it is being constructed, transported, and while it's being installed?
  • If in professional services, do you have sufficient coverage with regard to E&O insurance (Professional Liability coverage)?  Are you confident that in the case of loss, you and your business are protected?
  • Do you have EPLI coverage in place in the event that you are sued for what an employees views as a discriminatory employer practice?
  • What about crime coverage?
  • Are you in a flood zone?  If so, you are required to have flood insurance.  Is this included?
If you feel you are adequately protected, would you like a second neutral set of eyes to ensure that your broker's priorities align with yours?
